Annual Family Bonfire

Our Fall Family Bonfire at the New Canaan Nature Center is an all-around good time! Hot dogs, s’mores , archery, and fun campfire activities for the whole family.

Rockets & Ice Cream Social
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 6-7:30pm*
The Rockets & Ice Cream Social is the cub scouts’ annual – and FREE! – STEM-focused recruitment event. It’s held at the southern clearing of Waveny Park, and is open to the public. Dozens of rockets of various models and sizes, some assembled by scouts, others by volunteers, are launched from our custom-built, 9-pad launch frame off heavy-duty, 12-volt batteries (for increased reliability). Our goal is to make sure every attending youth gets to launch a rocket, which is why we maintain a large fleet, and also why we require attenders to sign up in advance. Aside from the rocketry, there’s a reason why “social” is in the title. This event presents the opportunity to make new friends, particularly those who are part of the scouting community in and around New Canaaon. So, whether you’re interested in rocketry, scouting, having a blast (pun intended), or all of the above, make sure to clear your calendar for the first Tuesday in June.
